TVA: Ocoee Whitewater Rafting and Fly-Fishing Experience - May 22-23, 2024
5/22/2024 - 5/23/2024
Description
Registration is now open for a fun adventure in one of East Tennessee’s most pristine areas, where you will also have the opportunity to meet and network with others in the tourism, recreation, business and government sectors throughout the Tennessee Valley.
We hope you can join us in Polk County, Tennessee, and Fannin County, Georgia, on May 22nd and 23rd for the TVA Ocoee Whitewater Rafting & Fly-Fishing Experience in partnership with the Polk and Fannin County chambers, Ocoee River Outfitters Association, Trout Unlimited and Tennessee State Parks.
A primer for this summer’s Olympic Games, this year’s event celebrates the 1996 Olympics, which brought the world’s best slalom canoers to our region to compete for their countries on the whitewater of the Upper Ocoee River. Now, you can experience that same thrill if you join us!
Your experience begins on Wednesday, May 22nd at TOONEYS Music Venue – a favorite gathering place for locals – on the Tennessee-Georgia state line in McCaysville, Georgia. A private reception and dinner will begin at 5 p.m. ET. During the reception, you will enjoy great food and beverages, hear about the area’s many recreational opportunities and network with like-minded professionals.
Depending on your preferred recreation activity, you will meet at the Ocoee Middle Put-In at 9 a.m. ET on Thursday, May 23rd to raft the middle section of the Ocoee River, led by the Ocoee River Outfitters Association. If you choose to fly-fish, you will meet at Horseshoe Bend Park at the Toccoa River with members from Trout Unlimited’s Clinch River and Blue Ridge chapters, as well as TVA staff. Please complete the registration form no later than Thursday, May 9, 2024. All guests must register as well.* There is no cost for the events listed here, however, participants are responsible for transportation to the events and lodging, if needed.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to reach out to me or LaKevia Perry at LPerry@tva.gov. We look forward to seeing you in Polk County, Tennessee, and Fannin County, Georgia!
