Join us at ETEC in-person, or virtually, Friday, July 31, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for a presentation by Lucian Niemeyer, "Unlocking the Power of AI for Everyone."  

During this program, Niemeyer will explore two key U.S. Department of Energy priorities: accelerating the development of affordable, reliable power generation for the nation and advancing the future of artificial intelligence through the Genesis Mission. Attendees will gain insight into how these initiatives are shaping America's energy future while creating unprecedented workforce and economic opportunities for Americans.

United Coalition for Advanced Nuclear Power (UCAN Power)

Lucian co-founded the non-profit entity, United Coalition for Advanced Nuclear Power in 2021 to facilitate the use of advanced nuclear reactor to meet federal and commercial energy needs. Lucian founded The Niemeyer Group, LLC in 2014, providing public and private sector clients strategic advisory services for economic and business development He is currently leading private sector initiatives to build submarine construction capacity, to develop large scale energy and data center campuses, and to accelerate design/construction processes using artificial intelligence and virtual twin technologies. 

Lucian’s national security expertise spans five decades of service in the Air Force, the U.S. Senate, the Pentagon and White House. Throughout his professional career, he has been a strong advocate for the use of nuclear power to enhance energy reliability and resiliency. The Honorable Niemeyer served as an Assistant Secretary of Defense managing the world’s largest real property portfolio valued at a trillion dollars. He was responsible for identifying and mitigating risk to national security programs, as well as improving energy and environmental resilience through power generation development. He also served on the professional staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Service for 11 years providing expertise on policies and programs for our Nation’s security.

Lucian is an Air Force veteran with 21 years of active and Virginia Air National Guard service. He is a Fellow in the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), a member of the National Academy of Construction, an Honorary Seabee, and actively promotes Standards of Care for cyber safety in the engineering profession. Lucian also serves as one of 15 national members of the Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board.

The meeting will be held at the University of Tennessee Outreach Center, located at the back corner of the building on the Applebee's side. The entrance faces the Quality Inn and Applebee's. Look for the awning and sign marked University of Tennessee Outreach Center.

Please note: The main entrance to the ETEC office will be locked.

Directions

From Knoxville via S. Illinois Avenue (TN-62 W):

  • Turn right onto S. Rutgers Avenue.
  • Continue to the intersection of Rice Road and Rider Road, across from ORNL Corporate       Headquarters.
  • After passing the Quality Inn, turn left onto Rider Road.
  • The University of Tennessee Outreach Center will be on your right.

Alternate Route from Knoxville via S. Illinois Avenue (TN-62 W):

  • Take the sharp right onto Lafayette Drive.
  • Turn left onto W. Gettysburg Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Manhattan Avenue.
  • Continue straight across S. Rutgers Avenue onto Rice Road.
  • At the intersection of Rice Road and Rider Road, turn right onto Rider Road.
  • The University of Tennessee Outreach Center will be on your right.

If inclement weather is expected on a Friday morning, and we decide to move to an ALL-VIRTUAL Zoom format, we will notify members by 5:00 p.m. the evening before. 

Newsletter subscribers will receive an email, and notices will be posted on the ETEC homepage and the calendar event page. We encourage all attendees to check for updates and use the Zoom registration link to join virtually if necessary.

If you do not receive an email and there are no notices on the website, we will proceed with the in-person (hybrid) meeting as planned, but we advise everyone to use their own judgment based on road conditions in their areas.
