Founded in Knoxville in 1983, PYA is a private, independent national professional services firm offering management consulting, accounting, and tax services. With offices across the Southeast and clients in all 50 states, PYA is consistently ranked among the Top 100 accounting firms by INSIDE Public Accounting and USA Today, and among the Top 20 healthcare consulting firms by Modern Healthcare.

Central to PYA’s identity is “The PYA Way,” a culture rooted in helpfulness, integrity, and long-term relationships. These values shape both client service and community engagement.

In 2012, PYA launched Teknovation to spotlight East Tennessee’s innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. Seeing a gap in media coverage for emerging industries and economic development, Teknovation began telling the stories of startups, founders, and ecosystem builders working to make the region a vibrant place to live, work, and grow. Today, Teknovation publishes original content daily and distributes a newsletter three times a week.

PYA has invested in/ supported emerging fast-growth start-ups in the region through its Ballard Innovation Awards, granting $50k and in-kind services annually.
