Ken Givens
Vice President
BWXT Enrichment Operations
Mr. Givens has more than 35 years of chemical and nuclear industry experience. In 2023, Mr. Givens transitioned to Business Development Director to support capturing new business lines at BWXT in Domestic Uranium Enrichment and High Assay Low Enriched Uranium Deconversion and is now the Uranium Enrichment Director for BWXT. In 2021, he was the Project Director at NFS responsible for launching the Uranium Conversion and Purification Services program to develop the uranium metal/oxide conversion process, which included program management, engineering design, and construction initiation. He has over 9 years’ experience at NFS where he has served as the Deputy Engineering Director and as Engineering Director prior to moving to manage Phase I of the Uranium Conversion and Purification Services project.
Prior to joining NFS, he gained extensive domestic and international experience through various engineering, project management, and executive positions with startup and Fortune 500 organizations, including Actinium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and GE-Hitachi Nuclear Company. Some of his key experience includes radiochemical plant design and commissioning, NRC Integrated Safety Analysis, program/engineering management for a state-of-the-art uranium laser enrichment plant, uranium chemical plant operations, and creating a start-up company to develop commercial cancer treatments using alpha particle based radioimmunotherapeutics.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California – San Diego and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Mr. Givens has completed his coursework for a Doctorate of Philosophy in Engineering Management. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Tennessee and North Carolina. Mr. Givens has filed 10 patent applications for inventions in the fields of uranium manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.

-If you are coming from Knoxville via S. Illinois Ave (TN-62W); take a right onto S. Rutgers Ave, and continue until you come to the intersection of Rice Rd and Rider Rd, across from ORNL Corporate Headquarters; after the Quality Inn, take a left onto Rider Rd and you will arrive at your destination on the right. Look for an awning and sign that says University of Tennessee Outreach Center.
-Alternatively, if you are coming from Knoxville via S. Illinois Ave (TN-62W); you can take a sharp right and merge onto Lafayette Dr; turn left onto W. Gettysburg Ave; turn right onto Manhattan Ave; then at the intersection of Manhattan Ave and S. Rutgers Ave, continue straight across onto Rice Rd until you come to the intersection of Rice Rd and Rider Rd; take a right onto Rider Rd and you will arrive at your destination on the right. Look for an awning and sign that says University of Tennessee Outreach Center.
-If you are coming from Oak Ridge via the Turnpike, you will find us between the intersection of S. Rutgers Ave and Wallace Rd, between the Applebee's and Dairy Queen, across the street from St. Mary's School. The Outreach Center is located on the back corner of the building on the Applebee’s side. The entrance faces the Quality Inn and Applebee's. Look for an awning and sign that says University of Tennessee Outreach Center. The main entrance of the ETEC Office will be locked.
-If you are coming from Oak Ridge via Illinois Ave; turn onto S.
